 Where to go in January

Many countries have a pleasant climate (mild temperatures, low rainfall or dry weather) in January. Some countries are to be avoided due to unfavorable weather conditions (high or low temperatures, heavy rainfall or cyclones which often cause heavy damage).

  Africa
Heavy rains fall in the countries located in southern Africa in January. The countries located in the north of the continent have a dry climate except the coasts along the Mediterranean Sea). The climate is hot in January in western Africa with high temperatures on the coasts (30°). They are a bit lower in the Sahara Desert (northern Africa) and on the plateaus of East African countries. Cyclones sometimes cause significant damage when they reach the coasts of the islands located in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion).
