Where to go in March |
Many countries have a pleasant climate (mild temperatures, low rainfall or dry weather) in March. Some countries are to be avoided due to unfavorable weather conditions (high or low temperatures, heavy rainfall or cyclones which often cause heavy damage).
| Africa |
|
The countries and the islands (Madeira, Canary Islands) located in the north of Africa have a dry climate in March except on the Mediterranean coast where rainfall is frequent. The rains also fall regularly on South African countries and on some Central African countries (Angola, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Zambia). Temperatures are pleasant in the countries of the western Africa. They begin to rise in the Sahara (a desert located in the north of Africa). Cyclones sometimes reach the islands of Reunion, Madagascar and Mayotte in March (strong winds and torrential rains often cause significant damage).
| America |
|
The climate is cool in March in the North American countries except in the southeast of the United States and Mexico where temperatures are mild. The Central American countries have a dry climate with high temperatures on the Caribbean coast and on the Pacific coast (they are lower in the mountains). Rainfall is often nonexistent except on the Caribbean coast where the rains are heavy. The climate is hot in South America (high temperatures) except in Patagonia (southern Argentina) where the temperatures begin to drop. The Caribbean islands have a mild climate with low rainfall and pleasant temperatures (26-28°) in March.
| Asia |
|
Temperatures are cool (10°) and rainfall is low in the Central Asian countries in March. The climate is cool in the countries of northeastern Asia (North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, Japan, China). The countries located further south have higher temperatures. Rainfall is low except in the extreme south of Asia (East Timor, Indonesia). Turkey has a cool climate unlike countries of the Arabian Peninsula (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates) where temperatures are mild. Rainfall is low in most countries of the Middle East.
| Europe |
|
Temperatures are low in northern Europe (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Baltic countries) in March. The climate is cool in the countries of Eastern Europe (temperatures do not exceed 12° and rainfall is low). The countries located in western Europe (the British Isles, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, France) also have a cool climate in March (temperatures are slightly higher and rainfall is higher). Temperatures reach 15° and rainfall is moderate in most countries located along the Mediterranean Sea (southern Europe).

The islands located south of the Ecuador (Vanuatu, Samoa, American Samoa, Fiji) have a hot and humid climate with abundant rainfall (showers fall mostly in the afternoon) and constant temperatures (30°) . The islands located north of the Equator (Northern Mariana Islands, Micronesia, Marshall Islands) have a warm and dry climate with stable temperatures (28°).
