 Where to go in May

Many countries have a pleasant climate (mild temperatures, low rainfall or dry weather) in May. Some countries are to be avoided due to unfavorable weather conditions (high or low temperatures, heavy rainfall or cyclones which often cause heavy damage).

  Africa
Temperatures are mild and rainfall is very low or nonexistent in most South African countries in May. They are abundant in the countries located near the Ecuador (Burundi, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya). They are also high on the coasts of the West African countries (Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin). The countries located further north and further have a dry climate in May. Rainfall is nonexistent and temperatures are high in the Sahara desert (Mauritania, Algeria, northern Mali, Libya).

Rainfall is high and temperatures reach 30° in the countries located near the Equator (Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana). Rainfall is much lower and temperatures are cooler (10 to 20°) in the countries located further south (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay). Abundant rains begin to fall on some Caribbean islands.
