Where to go in February |
Many countries have a pleasant climate (mild temperatures, low rainfall or dry weather) in February. Some countries are to be avoided due to unfavorable weather conditions (high or low temperatures, heavy rainfall or cyclones which often cause heavy damage).
| Africa |
|
Countries and territories located in the north of Africa have a dry climate in February except on the coasts along the Mediterranean Sea and on the islands (Madeira, Canary Islands). Rain falls regularly on the countries and on the islands located in the south of Africa. Temperatures are pleasant in western Africa. They are a bit lower in the desert located in the north of Africa (Sahara) and on the plateaus of the East African countries. Cyclones sometimes reach the coasts of Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius and Mayotte in February (they often cause significant damage).
| America |
|
Snow falls regularly and temperatures are low in February in the countries located in North America (only the southeast of the United States and Mexico have mild temperatures). Central American countries have a dry climate with high temperatures on the Caribbean coast and on the Pacific coast (they are lower in the mountains often located in the center of these countries). Rainfall is often nonexistent in February except on the Caribbean coast. The climate is hot in South America (high temperatures) with significant rainfall except in Colombia, Chile and Venezuela (dry season). The Caribbean islands have a temperate climate with low rainfall (dry season) and pleasant temperatures (26-28°).
| Asia |
|
Central Asia countries have a cold climate in February with low temperatures (they are very low when cold winds pass through the mountains and the plains). The countries of northeastern Asia (Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, northern China, and Japan) also have a cold climate in January. Temperatures are milder in countries located further south. Rainfall is low except in Indonesia where they are abundant. The Middle East has a temperate climate in February with pleasant temperatures (they are cooler in the mountains) and low rainfall.
| Europe |
|
North European and East European countries have a cold climate with low temperatures (they are very low when cold winds pass through them). The countries located in western Europe also have a cold climate in February (rainfall is high in Jersey, Guernsey, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland). Temperatures are slightly higher in the countries of southern Europe. Snowfalls are frequent in the mountains and in the northeast of Europe. The sunshine is low in most European countries in February.
