Where to go in September |
Many countries have a pleasant climate (mild temperatures, low rainfall or dry weather) in September. Some countries are to be avoided due to unfavorable weather conditions (high or low temperatures, heavy rainfall or cyclones which often cause heavy damage).
| Africa |
|
The climate is mild and dry (temperatures oscillate between 20 and 25°) in September in the countries located in the south of Africa (Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique) and on the Indian Ocean Islands (Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Mayotte). Rainfall is high in Central African countries close to the Equator. Temperatures are high and rainfall is nonexistent in the North African countries (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt). The climate of the Canary Islands and Madeira is milder. Temperatures reach 30° and rainfall is high in West Africa (especially on the coasts).

The climate is hot and humid in the countries located in Central America (temperatures reach 30° and rainfall is high). The countries located near the Equator (Colombia, Venezuela) also have a hot and humid climate in September. Temperatures are milder in Brazil, northern Argentina and Chile. They are much lower (10°) in the south of the South American continent. Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is abundant on the Caribbean islands.
| Asia |
|

Rainfall is high (rainy season) in most Southeast Asian countries except in the extreme south (Malay Peninsula and southern islands of Indonesia). The Central Asian countries have a temperate climate with mild temperatures (25°) and low rainfall. The climate is hot and dry from Turkey to Iran and in all countries of the Arabian Peninsula (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen) : rainfall is nonexistent, temperatures exceed 30°, the sun shines constantly and humidity is very high on the coasts.
| Europe |
|
The North European countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Baltic countries) have a cool climate in September (temperatures range from 12 to 16° and rainfall is moderate). Temperatures are slightly higher and rainfall is also moderate in Western Europe (16 to 18°). Rainfall is low and temperatures reach 22° in most East European countries. Temperatures are milder and rainfall is moderate in the countries located in the south of Europe (Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia) and on the islands of the Mediterranean Sea (Balearic Islands, Sardinia).
| Oceania |
|
The islands located north of the Equator (Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands) have a hot and humid climate in September with high temperatures (28 to 30°) and abundant rainfall. Temperatures oscillate between 26 and 30° and rainfall is lower on the islands located south of the Equator. Temperatures gradually rise in Australia and New Zealand. Cyclones (stong winds and heavy rains) sometimes reach the coasts of the islands located north of the Equator in September.
