Climate

 
Albania has two different climatic zones.

Temperatures are lower in the mountains (4 to 28) than in the plain (12 to 32). Annual rainfall is higher in the north (2 000 to 2 500 mm) than in the southwest (1 000 mm) and in the southeast (700 mm). Sunshine ranges from four hours per day in January to eleven hours a day in July.

The coastal Plain (western Albania)
The coastal plain has a Mediterranean climate with four seasons.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are stable (12) and rainfall is high.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively (14 in March, 17 in April, 21 in May) and rainfall is high.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 28 and 32 (they sometimes reach 40). Rainfall (storms) is low and sunshine is high.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures drop steadily (25 in September, 21 in October, 16 in November) and rainfall is high.

The mountains (east of Albania)
The mountains has a continental climate with four seasons.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures range between 4 and 6 (they are below zero at night). Snowfalls are frequent.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise steadily (7 in March, 14 in April, 18 in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 24 and 28. Rainfall is low and sunshine is high.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures drop progressively (22 in September, 15 in October, 10 in November) and rainfall is high.
