Bolivia has three different climatic zones.
Temperatures are low on the plateau (13°), mild in the central valleys (22 to 25°) and high in the plain (25 to 30°). The annual rains are higher in the plain (1 000 to 1 800 mm) than on the plateau (200 to 600 mm) and in the central valleys (700 mm).
 The plateau (western Bolivia)
The plateau has a cool tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (December to March)
Temperatures are stable (13°) and rainfall is low (200 mm per year in the south of the plateau and 600 mm per year in the north of the plateau).
Dry season (April to November)
Temperatures reach 13° during the daytime (they lose ten degrees at night). Rainfall is nonexistent and sunshine is very high.
The central valleys
The valleys located in the center of Bolivia have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall reaches 700 mm per year.
Rainy season (December to March)
Temperatures are mild during the daytime (23 to 24°), and then they lose 10° at night. Rainfall is moderate.
Dry season (April to November)
Temperatures are mild during the daytime (24 to 25°) but the nights are cool. Rainfall is very low.
The eastern plain
The plain located in the east of Bolivia has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall is abundant (1 000 mm per year in the south of the plain and 1 800 mm in the north of the plain).
Rainy season (October to April)
Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is abundant.
Dry season (May to September)
Temperatures reach 25° and rainfall is moderate. Strong cold winds sometimes cause a sharp drop in temperatures in May, June and July.
