Climate

 
Macedonia has a temperate continental climate with four seasons.

Temperatures range between 4° in January and 29° in July (they are lower in the mountains). Rainfall is higher in the mountains (1 700 mm per year) than in the valleys (500 to 700 mm per year).

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are low (5°) or very low sometimes (-15°). Rainfall is low but snowfalls are frequent in the mountains.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively (12° in March, 15° in April, 20° in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 26 and 30° (they sometimes reach 40°). Rainfall is low.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures steadily drop (25° in September, 18° in October, 11° in November) and rainfall is moderate.
