Climate

 
Malaysia has an equatorial climate.

Temperatures are high in the plains (30°) and mild in the mountains all year round. The rains fall regularly throughout the year (they reach 2500 mm per year on the peninsula, 2000 to 3 500 mm per year in the north of the island of Borneo and 5 000 mm per year in the mountains). Humidity is always high.

East coast of the Malay peninsula
The east coast of the peninsula has a climate with a rainy season and a dry season.

Rainy season (November to January)
Temperatures are high (32°) and rainfall Is abundant (400 to 600 mm per month).

Dry season (February to October)
Temperatures are stable (32°) and rainfall is high (100 to 200 mm per month).

West coast of the Malay peninsula
The west coast of the peninsula has a climate with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons.

First rainy season (March to May) and second rainy season (October to November)
Temperatures are constant (32° during the daytime, 23° at night) and rainfall is abundant (250 to 500 mm per month).

First dry season (June to September) and second dry season (December to February)
Temperatures reach 32° during the daytime (they lose nine degrees at night) and rainfall is high (200 to 300 mm per month).

Northwestern Borneo
Temperatures are high throughout the year (30 to 32°) and rainfall is abundant all the time (December to February are the wettest months).

The rains are particularly heavy in the mountains located far away from the sea (5 000 mm per year).

Northeastern Borneo
The northeast of the island of Borneo has a climate with a rainy season and a dry season.

Rainy season (May to January)
Temperatures are high during the daytime (31°) and mild at night (21°). Rainfall is abundant.

Dry season (February to April)
Temperatures are constant (31° during the daytime, 21° at night). Rainfall is moderate.
