Morocco has three different climatic zones.

Temperatures are are high in July and August (they are very high (45°) in the south) and mild in January and February ((they are low in the mountains). The annual rains are moderate in the plain (800 mm in the north, 200 mm in the south), high in the mountains (2 000 mm in the north, 800 mm in the south) and very low in the desert located in the extreme south of the country (50 to 100 mm). Sunshine is very high on the coast (six to eight hours a day in winter, nine to ten hours a day in summer) and in the south (twelve hours per day).

The coastal Plain (north of Morocco)
The coastal plain has a Mediterranean climate.

Hot season (June to September)
Temperatures are high on the seaside (28°) and very high (37°) far away from the sea. Sunshine is very high (nine to ten hours a day).

Mild season (October to May)
Temperatures range between 20 and 25° (January is the mildest month with temperatures below 20°). Rains (October to April), range between 800 mm in the north of the plain and 200 mm in the south. Torrential rains sometimes cause significant damage. Sunshine is moderate (six to eight hours per day in December, January and February).

The plateaus and the mountains (center of Morocco)
The plateaus and the mountains have a continental climate. Rainfall is higher in the northern mountains (2 000 mm per year) than in the southern mountains (750 mm per year).

Hot season (June to September)
Temperatures are high but they drop momentarily when a storm breaks (they are milder in the mountains).

Mild season (October to May)

The first frost in the mountains occurs in November. Snowfall can be high (one meter) beyond 2 000 meters and the highest peaks are sometimes snowy into June.
