Senegal

Climate

Senegal has a tropical climate with a short rainy season and a long dry season.

Temperatures are high all year round (25 to 30° in the west, 30 to 40° in the east) and sunshine is high (nine hours). The annual rains are higher in the south (1 200 mm) than in the center (600 mm) and in the north (200 mm).

Rainy season (June to September)
Temperatures vary from 30° in the west to 35° in the east. The rains are abundant in the south, moderate in the center and low in the north (they are very irregular from one year to another).

Dry season (October to May)
Temperatures range between 35 and 40° during the daytime except on the coast (25°) which is constantly cooled by sea breezes (they lose 5° on the coast and 10 to 15° elsewhere at night). A dusty wind dries the atmosphere when it blows in December, January and February.
