Slovenia has three different climatic zones.
Temperatures vary more in the center (2° in January, 25° in July) than in the southwest (7° in January, 28° in July). Annual rainfall is higher in the mountains (1 200 to 1 400 mm) and than in the west (1 100 mm) and in the east (850 mm).
 The central plain
The plain located in the center of Slovenia has a temperate continental climate with four seasons. Rainfall is higher in the west (1 100 mm per year) than in the east (850 mm per year).
Winter (December to February)
Temperatures range between 1 and 5° (they are sometimes very low when cold winds blow) and rainfall is moderate. Possible snowfall.
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively (10° in March, 14° in April, 19° in May) and rainfall is high.
Summer (June to August)
Temperatures reach 25° and rainfall is high.
Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures steadily drop (21° in September, 15° in October, 7° in November) and rainfall is high.
Southwestern Slovenia
The southwest has a Mediterranean climate with four seasons. Rainfall reaches 1 100 mm per year.
Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are constant (9°) and rainfall is moderate. The sun shines four hours a day.
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise gradually (12° in March, 16° in April, 20° in May) and rainfall is high.
Summer (June to August)
Temperatures reach 27° (they sometimes rise to 30° in July and August) and rainfall (thunderstorms) is high. The sunshine ranges between ten and twelve hours a day.
Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures progressively drop (24° in September, 18° in October, 13° in November) and rainfall is high.
