Climate

 
Bosnia and Herzegovina has two different climatic zones;

Temperatures vary more in the center and in the north (0 to 3° in January, 23 to 26° in July) than in southeast (8° in January, 27° in July). Rainfall range between 1 000 mm and 2 500 mm per year.

Central and northern Bosnia and Herzegovina
The mountains located in the center and the northern plain have a continental climate with four seasons.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures range between 0 and 6 (they are below zero at night). Snowfalls are frequent and violent winds often blow.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively (10° in March, 15° in April, 20° in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 23 and 26°. Rainfall is high.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures steadily drop (22° in September, 16° in October, 8° in November) and rainfall is high.

Southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina
The plain located in the southeast has a Mediterranean climate with four seasons.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are constant (9°) and rainfall is abundant.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise gradually (13° in March, 16° in April, 22° in May) and rainfall is high.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 25 and 29° (they sometimes reach 35 to 40°) and rainfall is moderate.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures progressively drop (24° in September, October 19°, 14° in November) and rainfall is abundant.
