Burundi has a temperate tropical climate with a long rainy season and a short dry season.
Temperatures reach 26 to 28° all year round in the plain (they are lower in the mountains and on the plateaus). Rains range from 900 mm in the plain to 1,600 mm in the mountains.
Rainy season (October to May)
Temperatures are constant during the daytime (26 to 27° in the plain). They lose 10° at night (more in the mountains). Rainfall is higher in the mountains (1600 mm) than in the plain (900 mm).
Dry season (June to September)
Temperatures are stable (27 to 28° in the plain) and rainfall is nonexistent (it rains sometines in August).
