The Democratic Republic of the Congo has four different climatic zones.
Temperatures are high throughout the year (30°) except in the mountains. Rainfall varies from 1 000 to 2 000 mm per year.
 The northern Plateaus
The plateaus located in the north of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall exceeds 1 800 mm per year.
Rainy season (April to November)
Temperatures are stable (30°) and rainfall is high.
Dry season (December to March)
Temperatures are high (30° during the daytime and 20° at night) and rainfall is moderate.
The central Plain
The plain located in the center of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has an equatorial climate. Temperatures reach 30° during the daytime and 20° at night all year round. Rain (1 500 mm per year) falls regularly throughout the year. The sun shines, on average, 2,000 hours per year because the sky is often cloudy. Humidity is very high throughout the year (75 to 90%).
The southern plateaus
The plateaus located in the south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (October to May)
Temperatures are stable (30°) and rainfall is high.
Dry season (June to September)
Temperatures is high (30°).
The mountains (east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo)
The mountains have a cool climate. Humidity increases with altitude and some vertices are constantly surrounded by fog. The temperature also varies with altitude (18° at 1 500 meters, 16° at 2 000 meters, 11° at 3 000 meters and 6 at 4000 meters). Ttemperatures can be very cold at night. Rainfall is high at low altitude (2 000 mm per year at 1 000 meters) but decreases with altitude. Hailstorms are frequent.
