Climate

 
Equatorial Guinea has an equatorial climate.

Temperatures reach 30° all year round (January to December) and rainfall is abundant (1 500 to 4 500 mm per year in the continental region ; 1 800 to 11 500 mm per year on the island of Bioko). The sky is cloudy most of the time and humidity is consistently high.

Continental region of Equatorial Guinea
The mainland has an equatorial climate with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons. The annual rains are higher on the southwestern coast (4 500 mm) than on the northwestern coast (2 500 mm). They are less intense in the east of the mainland (1500 mm).

First rainy season (September to November) and the second rainy season (March to May)
Temperatures are constant (29°) and rainfall is high.

First dry season (June to August) and second dry season (December to February)
Temperatures are stable (31°) and rainfall is low.

Island of Bioko
The island of Bioko, located in the Gulf of Guinea, has an equatorial climate with a rainy season and a dry season. The rains are higher on the south coast of the island (11 500 mm) than on the north coast (1 800 mm) which is protected from southwestern moisture-laden winds by a former volcano located in the center of the island.

Temperatures are constant (29 to 30°) and rainfall is high.

Dry season (December to February)
Temperatures are stable (30°) and rainfall is low.
