The Gambia has a tropical climate with a short rainy season and a long dry season.
Temperatures range between 28 and 30° during the year. The rains (1 200 mm per year) are often heavy and humidity is relatively high throughout the year except when a dry wind blows between December and April. Sunshine is very high.
Rainy season (July to September)
Temperatures reach 30° during the daytime (they lose five degrees at night). The rains are higher in the west (1 400 mm) than in the east (900 mm). Tornadoes sometimes cause significant damage.
Dry season (October to June)
Temperatures range between 28 and 30° (they lose five to ten degrees at night).
