Climate

 
Iceland has an oceanic climate with four seasons.

Temperatures range between 1° in January and 14° in July. Rainfall is higher in the south (2 000 mm per year) than in the north (400 mm per year). Weather changes are very frequent (the sun, the rain and the clouds alternate several times a day.

Winter (November to March)
Temperatures are stable (1 to 3°) and rainfall is high. The nights are long and violent storms regularly pass through the island.

Spring (April to May)
Temperatures rise slowly (5° in April, 9° in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 12 and 15° (they sometimes reach 20°) during the daytime but the nights are cool (6 to 8°). The sky is often cloudy but rainfall is moderate. The sun stays above the horizon for nearly 24 hours in June.

Autumn (September to October)
Temperatures drop rapidly (11° in September, 6° in October) and rainfall is high.
