Jordan has an arid climate with a warm season and a mild season.
Temperatures range between 14° in January and 34° (sometimes more) in July. Rainfall is higher in the mountains located in the west (350 mm per year) than in the desert located in the center (50 mm per year).
Hot season (May to October)
Temperatures exceed 30° (except in May and October in the northwest) during the daytime but the nights are cool. Rainfall is nonexistent. Humidity is low and sunshine is very high (twelve to thirteen hours a day). Dry winds cause a sharp rise in temperatures when they blow.
Mild season (November to April)
Temperatures progressively drop until January (12° in the north, 18° in the south) and then rise steadily (22° in the north, 29° in the south in April). Rainfall is moderate in the northwest and low in the rest of the country. Sunshine ranges from six to seven hours a day. Snow sometimes falls in the mountains.
