Benin has two different climatic zones.
Temperatures are stable throughout the year in the south (28 to 32°) and range between 30 and 38° in the north of the country. Rainfall is abundant during the rainy seasons.
 Southern Benin
The south of Benin has an equatorial climate with two dry seasons and two rainy seasons. Rainfall is high (1 200 mm in the east and 800 mm in the west).
First dry season (November to March) and second dry season (August)
Temperatures slightly exceed 30°. Humidity is high but rainfall is low.
First rainy season (April to July) and second rainy season (September to October)
Temperatures are constant (28°), rainfall is abundant and humidity is high.
Central and northern Benin
The center and the north of Benin have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. The rains are higher in central Benin (1 300 mm per year) than in the north of the country (950 mm per year).
Rainy season (May to September)
Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is abundant.
Dry season (October to April)
Temperatures reach 38° during the daytime (they exceed 40° in the extreme north of Benin) and then they drop sharply at night. Humidity is low.
