Climate

 
Chad has a warm climate with a rainy season and a dry season.

The rains are higher in the south (1 200 mm per year) than in the center (600 mm per year) and in the north of Chad (50 mm per year). Temperatures vary during the year between 30 and 40° in Chad (nights are mild). Humidity is high in July and August.

Northern Chad
The north of Chad has a rainy season and a dry season.

Rainy season (August)
Temperatures are very high (40°) and rainfall is very low (50 mm). Sunshine is very high.

Dry season (September to July)
Temperatures range between 32° in January (the coldest month) and 43° in May (the hottest month) during the daytime. They lose 15° at night (temperatures sometimes reach 0° in January).

Central Chad
The center of Chad has a hot and dry climate with a short rainy season and a long dry season. Rainfall reaches 600 mm per year.

Rainy season (July and August)
Temperatures are high (30° C) and rainfall is low. Sunshine is moderate (6 to 7 hours per day).

Dry season (September to June)
Temperatures are very high during the daytime (they frequently exceed 40° in April and May). They lose 10 to 15° at night. Sunshine is very high (9-10 hours per day).

Southern Chad
The plateaus located in the south have a climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall reaches 1 500 mm per year.

Rainy season (May to September)
Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is abundant.

Dry season (October to April)
Temperatures range between 35 and 39° during the daytime (they lose 10 to 15° at night). Rainfall is very low.
