Temperatures are stable all year round in the south (25° in January and 30° in July) and range between 20° in January (5° in the mountains) and 30° in July in the north. Rainfall is abundant in the south (800 to 1 000 mm per year) and moderate in the north (500 mm per year). Sunshine is high throughout the year.
The north has a temperate climate with four seasons. Raiinfall is moderate (250 to 500 mm per year) except in the extreme north (50 mm per year).
Winter (December to February)
Temperatures range between 15 and 20°. The rains are nonexistent except in the northwest. Ssunshine is high (seven to eight hours per day).
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively and rainfall is very low.
Summer (June to August)
Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is moderate. The sun shines five to six hours a day.
Autumn (September to November)
The temperatures drop gradually (26° in September, 21° in November) and rainfall is very low.
The south has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall is high (600 to 2 000 mm).
Rainy season (June to October)
Temperatures reach 30° in the coastal plains (they lose 5° on the plateau). Rainfall is abundant on the coasts and moderate on the plateau. Humidity is high. Hurricanes (strong winds and torrential rains) often reach the eastern and the western coasts.
Dry season (November to May)
Temperatures are stable (25° in the coastal plains, 20° on the central plateau). The atmosphere cools down when the sun sets. Rainfall is low.
