Climate

 
Croatia has two different climatic zones.

Temperatures vary more in the center and in the north (2° in January, 26° in July) than in the west (9° in January, 28° in July). Rainfall range between 1 000 mm per year on the coast to 850 mm per year in the center and in the north.

Central and northern Croatia
The mountains located in the center and the northern plain have a continental climate with four seasons. Rainfall reaches 850 mm per year.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures range between 2 and 5° (they sometimes reach -20°). Snowfalls are frequent.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise steadily (11° in March, 15° in April, 20° in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 23 and 26° (they sometimes reach 40°). Rainfall (thunderstorms) is high.

Autumn (September to November)
The temperatures progressively drop (21° in September, 15° in October, 8° in November) and rainfall is high.

The coast (western Croatia)
The coast has a Mediterranean climate with four seasons. Rainfall varies from 800 to 1 200 mm per year.

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are constant (8 to 10°) and rainfall is high (the rains are abundant in the southwest). Sunshine reaches four hours a day.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise slowly (13° in March, 16° in April, 20° in May) and rainfall is high.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures range between 25 and 28°. Rainfall is moderate in the southwest and high in the northwest. The sun shines ten to twelve hours a day.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures drop steadily (24° in September, 19° in October, 13° in November) and rainfall is abundant.
