Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate with four seasons.
Temperatures range between 14° in January to 32° on the coast and 37° in the central plain in July (they are lower in the mountains located in the north and in the south). Annual rainfall is higher in the mountains (1 000 mm) than on the north coast (550 mm), on the south coast (450 mm) and in the central plain (300 to 400 mm). Sunshine varies from five hours a day in December, January and February to eleven hours a day in June, July and August.
Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are stable (15 to 17°) and rainfall is moderate.
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise slowly (18° in March, 22° in April, 27° in May) and rainfall is low.
Summer (June to September)
Temperatures are very high (30 to 32° on the coasts, 32 to 36° in the plain located in the center of the island) and rainfall is very low or nonexistent.
Autumn (October to November)
Temperatures steadily drop (26° in October, 22° in November) and rainfall is low.
