Ethiopia has two different climatic zones.
Temperatures are mild in the mountains (20 to 24°) and very high in the plains (30 to 35° sometimes even more) all year round. The rains are higher in the mountains (1 000 2 000 mm per year) than in the plains (0 to 500 mm per year).
 The central mountains
The mountains located in the center of Ethiopia have a climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (June to September)
Temperatures are stable (20°) and rainfall (thunderstorms) is abundant. The sun only shines two to four hours a day.
Dry season (October to May)
Temperatures reach 24° during the daytime ( they often drop to 0° at night). Sporadic rains fall in April and May. Sunshine is high (eight to nine hours per day).
The plains
The plains have an arid climate. Temperatures range between 30 and 35° (they sometimes reach 40°) throughout the year. Rainfall is low (500 mm per year) or nonexistent in some areas.
