Climate

 
Georgia has four different climatic zones.

Temperatures range between 7° in January and 30° in July on the coast and in the interior plain (they are lower in the mountains). Rainfall is higher in the west (coast) than in the east (inner plain).

Coastal plain (west of Georgia)
The coast has a humid subtropical climate. Rainfall is abundant (1 000 to 2 500 mm per year).

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are low (7 to 10°) and rainfall is high.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise (11° in March, 22° in May) and rainfall is moderate.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures reach 25 to 30° and rainfall is moderate. Humidity is high.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures steadily drop and rainfall is high.

The interior plain (East of Georgia)
The east plain has a dry subtropical climate. Rainfall is moderate (400 to 800 mm per year).

Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are low (6 to 8°) and rainfall is very low.

Spring (March to May)
Temperatures reach or exceed 20° in April and in May. Rainfall low in March and in April and moderate in May.

Summer (June to August)
Temperatures reach 28-30°. Rainfall is moderate in June and low in July and August.

Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures progressively drop (25° in September, 20° in October and 15° in November) and rainfall is low.

The northern mountains
The mountains located in the north of Georgia have an alpine climate above 2 000 meters. Winter is cold and wet and summer is cool and sunny.

The southern mountains
The mountains located in the south of Georgia have a continental climate. Temperatures are high in summer and low in winter.
