Temperature vary more during the year in the center (10° in January, 36 to 38° in July) than in the north (10° to 30°) and in the south (20° to 38°). Rainfall is heavier in the north (800 to 1500 mm per year) than in the center and the south (100 to 300 mm per year).
The northern coast of Iran
The north coast has a temperate climate with four seasons. Rainfall is higher in the west (1500 mm per year) than in the east (800 mm per year).
Winter (December to February)
Temperatures are low (11°) and rainfall is moderate.
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures rise progressively (15° in March, 20° in April, 25° in May) and rainfall is low.
Summer (June to August)
Temperatures are high (30°) and rainfall is low.
Autumn (September to November)
Temperatures drop steadily (25° in September, 20° in October, 15° in November) and rainfall is abundant.
Central and southern Iran
The center and the south have an arid climate with a hot season and a mild season. Rainfall varies from 100 to 300 mm per year.
Hot season (May to September)
Temperatures range between 30 and 38°. Rainfall is nonexistent and humidity is low except on the south coast.
Mild season (October to April)
Temperatures drop from October (30° in the south, 25° in the center) to January (20° in the south, 8 to 10° in the center) and then rise to April (28° in the south, 20° in the centre). The nights are cold in the center and cool in the south between November and March. Rainfall is low.
