Climate

 
The Kiribati Islands have three different climatic zones.

Temperatures are stable all year round (31° during the daytime, 27° at night). Rainfall (short showers) is higher on the northern islands (3 000 mm per year) than on the southern islands (500 mm per year). Sunshine ranges between six and eight hours a day.

The islands located north of the Equator
The northern islands have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.

Dry season (December to May)
Temperatures are constant (31° during the daytime, 27° at night).

The islands located south of the Equator
The southern islands have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.

Temperatures are constant (31° during the daytime, 27° at night).

The central islands have an equatorial climate. Temperatures are constant (31° during the daytime, 27° at night) and the rains fall each month of the year.
