Mauritania has climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Temperatures vary more in the north (20° in January to 40° in July) than in the south (30° in January to 40° in June). The rains are moderate in the south (400 to 600 mm per year) and low in the north (100 mm per year). Sunshine is very high (eight to ten hours a day).
 Southern Mauritania
The south has a climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (July to October)
Temperatures are very high during the daytime (35 to 37°) and then lose ten degrees at night. Rainfall are moderate (400 to 600 mm) but the sky is often cloudy. Humidity is high.
Dry season (November to June)
Temperatures are high (30 to 35°) from November to March and then they rise to 38-40° from April to June). Sunshine is very high and rainfall is nonexistent.
Central and northern Mauritania
The center and the north have very hot and very dry.
Rainy season (July to September)
Temperatures reach 40° and the rains are rare (100 mm) or nonexistent in some years.
Dry season (October to June)
Temperatures vary between 35° in October, 26° in January and 35° in May (they sometimes drop to 0° at night in January, February and March). Rainfall is nonexistent (some drops of water sometimes fall in December and January).
