New Caledonia has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Temperatures range between 30° in January and 23° in July. Rainfall is higher on the east coast (3 000 mm per year) than on the west coast (1 000 mm per year). Sunshine ranges from six to eight hours a day.
Rainy season (December to March)
Temperatures are stable (29-30°) and rainfall (heavy showers in the late afternoon) is high on the west coast and abundant on the east coast. Cyclones sometimes reach the island between January and March.
Dry season (April to November)
Temperatures range between 23 and 27° (they lose eight degrees at night). Rainfall is moderate on the west coast and high on the east coast.
