Nicaragua has three different climatic zones.
Temperatures are constant throughout the year:on the coasts (28 to 33°) and in the mountains (24 to 26°). The rains are higher on the Caribbean coast (2 500 to 4 000 mm per year) than on the Pacific Coast (1000 to 2 000 mm per year).
 The Caribbean coast (eastern Nicaragua)
The east coast has a tropical climate with a long rainy season and a short dry season. Rainfall is very high (2 500 to 4 000 mm per year).
Rainy season (May to January)
Temperatures range between 28 and 30° during the daytime (they lose 6° at night). Rainfall is abundant. Hurricanes occasionally reach the Caribbean coast in July, August, September and October.
Dry season (February to April)
Temperatures are constant (28 to 29°) and rainfall is moderate.
The central mountains
The mountains located in the center of Nicaragua have a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (May to October)
Temperatures are mild (27° during the daytime and 21° at night) and rainfal is high.
Dry season (November to April)
Temperatures are mild during the day (21°) and cool at night (15°). Rainfall is very low.
The Pacific Coast (western Nicaragua)
The west coast has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. Rainfall is high (1 000 to 2 000 mm per year).
Rainy season (May to October)
Temperatures is high (30°) and rainfall is high.
Dry season (November to April)
Temperatures are high (32°) and rainfall is very low.
