The islands of Sao Tome and Principe have an equatorial climate with two dry seasons and two rainy seasons.
Temperatures reach 26 to 28° throughout the year on the coasts (they are lower in the mountains where nights can be very cold). The annual rains are higher on the southwestern coasts of both islands than on the northeastern coasts (7 000 mm against 700 mm on the island of Sao Tome ; 3 000 mm against 1000 mm on the island of Principe) because the mountains located in the center of both islands stop most of moisture-laden clouds coming from the Atlantic Ocean. A light rain falls above 1000 meters almost throughout the year. Humidity is high throughout the year (80%).
First rainy season (October, November) and second rainy season (February to May)
Temperatures range between 26 and 28°, rainfall is abundant and humidity is high.
First dry season (June to September) and second dry season (December to January)
Temperatures are stable (26 to 27°). Rainfall is moderate during the first dry season and sporadic during the second dry season.
