Sri Lanka has two different climatic zones.
Temperatures range between 28 and 32° during the year (they reach 20 to 24° in the mountains). The annual rains are higher in the west (1 500 mm in the northwest and 2 500 mm in the southwest) than in the east (1500 mm).
 The west coast of Sri Lanka
The west coast has an equatorial climate with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons.
First rainy season (Apri to June) and second rainy season (October to December)
Temperatures are constant (30°) and rainfall is abundant.
First dry season (January to,March) and second dry season (July to September)
Temperatures are stable (30°) and rainfall is moderate. Sunshine is high (six to eight hours per day).
The east coast of Sri Lanka
The east coast has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season.
Rainy season (October to January)
Temperatures are high (28°) and rainfall is abundant.
Dry season (February to September)
Temperatures reach 32° and rainfall is low. The sun shines six to eight hours a day.
