Tajikistan has a continental climate with four seasons.
Temperatures are higher in the plains (10° in January, 35° in August) in the central mountains (0° in January and 25° in July at low altitude). Rainfall is high in the center (1200 mm per year) and low in the north and in the south (200 mm per year).
Winter (November to February)
Temperatures are low in the plains (10°) and very low in the mountains (they are below 0°). Rainfall is moderate.
Spring (March to May)
Temperatures are mild and the showers are frequent.
Summer (June to August)
Temperatures exceed 30° in the plains (they are lower in the mountains). Rainfall is nonexistent.
Autumn (September to October)
Temperatures progressively drop and rainfall is low.
